French releases controversial ‘War, The Moral Wounds’ music video
‘If my first song was whimsical comedy, this song is a tragedy that has been described as ‘haunting’ and ‘powerful’

Stan French is back behind the microphone again, looking to make a difference for Project Lifesaver by creating what he hopes will be a new viral music video.
French had a semi-final placing in the International Songwriting Competition in the Comedy/Novelty category with his first song, ‘Being a Boomer Ain’t Bad’,
However, his new song and music video, “War, the Moral Wounds,” is not light and fuzzy like his previous tune.
“Don’t expect to be laughing or smiling after listening to ‘War, The moral Wounds,'” said French.
“If my first song was whimsical comedy, this song is a tragedy that has been described as ‘haunting’ and ‘powerful.’ It’s an anti-war song with lyrics written from the perspective of a deployed pilot writing home to his wife. As the title infers, the pilot undergoes an internal conflict as his core values are challenged by his knowledge of the destruction his bombing missions have caused.”
French, who served in the Canadian Military as a mental health nurse in Afghanistan, played the music video in the gymnasium of One Kids Place on Thursday morning.
“The number one message from War of the Moral Wounds is the senseless, repetitive nature of people, governments, and leaders, continuing to go into wars of choice,” remarked French, who is the president of BAYSAR, North Bay Air Search and Rescue.
“That by looking at the way the video is introduced, where, through time, empires have gone into wars of conquest, but eventually, they all fall apart. So it’s fruitless. It just causes pain and suffering on all sides. So the number one message is the senseless repetitiveness of war. And the second part of that is the possible effects on the combatants who are ordered to go in and fight these wars.”
Much like last year’s song, French says he will be donating all his proceeds from his royalties to One Kids Place, the Alzheimer Society, and the Victorian Order of Nurses SMILE program, all being charities that refer clients to BAYSAR and support families needing Project Lifesaver.
The song itself will be released on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, YouTube Music, and Apple Music, and the music video is already available on Stan’s YouTube channel and his website, StanFrench.org.
The website will also encourage visitors to make direct donations to these charities.
Project Lifesaver, as provided by BAYSAR Air Search and Rescue, continues to be a great success for the North Bay Police Service and the OPP Detachments of North Bay and Nipissing West. Project Lifesaver is a valuable tool for police to help keep vulnerable persons safe.
Katharine Strang, Director of Development and Community Relations, One Kids Place Children’s Treatment Centre, says Project Lifesaver is an essential program that protects some of the most vulnerable local youth.
“At One Kids Place, we see firsthand how important it is for families to have that added layer of safety and peace of mind. We are incredibly grateful to partners like BAYSAR and to supporters like Stan French, whose efforts not only raise vital funds but also help ensure our kids can be found quickly and returned safely to those who love them.”
