BAYSAR’s President Stan French – “National Trainer”
I’m happy to announce that Project Lifesaver International Headquarters has placed significant trust in me and has increased my status to “National Trainer”. With that designation, I will be able to conduct initial ‘train-the-trainer’ courses for new Project Lifesaver agencies in Canada. My focus, of course, will be to assist new and developing agencies in Ontario. At the moment, I am already helping two new agencies prepare to provide Project Lifesaver services to their communities. In due time, they will announce when they are able to launch in their specific communities. The only reason I’m able to help in this way is because BAYSAR has been so successful as a Project Lifesaver agency. Our model of volunteers administering the program and augmenting the police in search operations has proven its worth. Currently, 66 families in North Bay, West Nipissing, Mattawa, Powassan, and other communities in the area have an increased peace of mind knowing that if their protected family member should go missing that they will likely be found in 30 minutes or less. So far, every Project Lifesaver search conducted by the NBPS or the OPP in conjunction with BAYSAR has been successfully completed in less than 30 minutes. The experience that I’ve gained leading BAYSAR through the first five years of Project Lifesaver operation, with the help of many fantastic volunteers, is the experience that will be of great value to new agencies. This volunteer position as a “National Trainer” is in addition to my volunteer designation as an Airborne Instructor for Project Lifesaver (as I did for York Regional Police), and my continued role as the President of BAYSAR.
