Project Lifesaver
BAYSAR (North Bay Air Search and Rescue) has been actively involved with Project Lifesaver, a program designed to help locate vulnerable individuals who may wander due to conditions like dementia, Alzheimer's, or autism. BAYSAR volunteers assist in the maintenance of the program by performing routine battery changes and maintenance on the transmitters worn by participants. BAYSAR also provides additional electronic search teams on the ground with local or provincial police enforcement and from the air using private aircraft or helicopters if needed. This collaboration helps ensure a quick and efficient response when a participant goes missing, often reducing search times significantly
